"BAPU FLUTE"

It brings us wonder to know that the saga of Bapu Padmanabha who has been raised to the zenith of popularity as a flutist, having received higher training in flute, under the able guidance of Swara Samrat Padmavibhushana Pandit HARIPRASAD CHAURASIA. This extra-ordinary expert born in an ordinary remote place Harihara in Karnataka, as student of Tool Engineering in Hospet when he started practicing flute and moving ahead in the ladder of musical achievement. He began his journey of learning music at the age of 16, having acquaintance of music that he learnt from his grandfather who was a harmonium player.

At the age of 18, Bapu had realised that his vocation lied in music. And accordingly he commenced his learning of music in distant presence of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. His learning like ‘ Ekalavya’ of Mahabharata, has been continuous and constant. He began to imitate Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia’s style of presentation. Even though he searched for suitable Guru in Karnataka, it could not be achieved, for his destiny was lying with Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

In August 1999, when Bapu was in the final semester of Tool Engineering, he went to Mumbai for apprenticeship training. His real intention was to meet his Guru Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. But he had to return without being able to meet his adoring idol. He was not disappointed. He continued his attempt to meet his Guru and finally succeeded. When he met his Guru in person, the great Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia gifted his own flute to Bapu as a token of his love for the studious student.

This was a turning point in the life of Bapu. Even without the permission or intimation to his parents, Bapu left for Mumbai, in order to pursue his studies in Flute under the guidance of Maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. As Bapu had no other source of income, and nobody to take care of his needs, he had to work at a hotel after the training in music, each day. After 45 days of continuous struggle for existence, Hariji, having come to know of his disciple’s poor economic condition, helped Bapu to get ‘Pannadevi’ Music scholarship from Brindavan Charitable Trust. This gave Bapu a new energy and confidence.

After completing Tool Engineering, Bapu recognised the life of music as his vocation and this brought him to Mumbai. Luckily, he was able to get the job in TACO Company near Pune, which is one of the cultural centers. Here Bapu reserved most of his time in perfecting the typical flutist style.

September 2001 was a turning point in Bapu’s life. It was the first public performance at the Osho Commune International, which gave a versatile turn in his Musical journey. His focus was to use music in triggering real devotion, peace of mind & emotional sensitivities. Later he became music synchronizer for many regional films in Film & Television Institute of India,(FTTI) Pune. During this time, he completely turned his attention to the field of music by resigning the job as his financial conditions had also improved to a considerable extent, hence there was no reason to repent for this decision. Bapu was able to bring out his first C.D named “Vividha” in 2004 which manifested out of the love & encouragement of his friends. Since then till date, Bapu’s music CDs have enthralled the music lover’s mind all over India & abroad.

Bapu has synchronized music compositions for many kannada films as well. He has worked fruitfully with famous singers like Hariharan and Shan. Bapu has his own unique music band known as AANTHARDHWANI. He also conducts meditation camps for the interested.

Released Bapu's Music under the title "MUSIC as THERAPY" to give as a gift to the Diplomats and VIPs from all over the Globe who visits India. 'The Public Diplomacy divison was especially created in April 2006 in the 'Misnistry of External Affairs,New Delhi,because it was increasingly felt that,in today's world,successful foreign policy practitioners would need to have an open and regular dialogue with civil society NGOs,academia,think tanks and tha media. Such a dialogue would help in shaping public openion and in contributing towards a more informed understanding of our foreign policy interests and concerns.Among the various instruments used bu the divison in this endeavour is the commissioning of the CDs containing music on Yoga Meditation,spiritual and religious themes.'
